Finally!!!

The blog posts I’ve been reading in preparation of setting up this blog, quite frankly lied.

‘Set up your blog in 15 minutes’ they cried out at me. Brilliant, I thought. Fifteen minutes on the computer, set up the blog, then spend a blissful, child free afternoon curled up in my beautiful new ‘reading chair’, in my newly adapted ‘lady cave’ (formerly known as the spare bedroom) devouring my new book.

Nope. More like five hours. Five hours I’ve spent glued to my laptop screen tinkering around with WordPress. Still, it’s done. I’m online, and ready to review and blog to my heart’s content.

Yippee!

So, why am I here? Essentially, I love reading, and I’m a budding author myself. I’m starting an MA in Creative Writing in September (literally cannot wait to get started!), and I thought a blog such as this would help me to;

a. become a part of the book community and understand the industry.

b. allow me to write what I like, when I like and perhaps get some feedback of my own.

I know I’ve got so much to learn, and I’m so privileged to have a year to solely dedicate to moving towards achieving my dreams (alongside raising children and keeping the house, of course!).

I can’t wait to get started! The book I’m reading is ‘The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart’ by Holly Ringland. It’s a book I’ve bought myself, hopefully I’ll get registered with some publishers and be sent a few to read soon…but we all need to start somewhere!

The chair is calling me……

  1. Hi Emma, congrats on starting your blog! I began mine at the beginning of June, and there’s definitely so much to learn! WordPress in 15 mins? It took me hours to get my blog how it is now! Best of luck with your MA (I just finished the first year of my undergrad), and with your blog! I look forward to seeing more posts 🙂

  2. I’m thinking of setting up a blog but I’ve never really been a put-myself-out-there kinda gal 😅 but this has really inspired me to start one! 😃 well done and keep it up! ☺️

    1. I’m the same! It’s literally taken me months to decide to go for it, so far I’m enjoying it and I’ve found the blogging community to be really welcoming. If I want to write novels, I am going to have to get used to people reading what I’m writing, this is an ideal start! Thanks for commenting 😁
