Many thanks to Kallie Townsend of Michael Joseph for inviting me to take part in this blog tour. I received a copy of the book to read ahead of time. This review forms my honest opinion.

SOMETIMES THE MOST UNLIKELY PEOPLE HAVE THE DARKEST SECRETS
Teddy Crutcher is a successful teacher at a top school. He’s a pillar of the community.
Only you know the truth.
He’s married to a beautiful wife – the best thing that ever happened to him.
But no-one has seen her in a while.
He’s so dedicated that even the tragic death of a school parent doesn’t distract him.
Even when the rumours start, saying it was murder.
You’re sure Teddy is hiding something about what happened.
You’re sure you can prove it.
But you didn’t stop to think that when it comes to catching a killer, there’s no place more dangerous than just one step behind . . .
Review
This was one of those reads where you get a little spark of excitement when you have the book in your hands and just intuitively know that you are going to love it.
Samantha Downing is a new author for me, but one I will without a doubt be returning to. For Your Own Good was an enthralling and exciting read. Never a dull moment, and impossible to guess. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, the rug was pulled out from under me and it took another twist.
Set in the prestigious Belmont Academy, Teddy Croucher is the reigning Teacher of the Year, and he is determined to do right by, and teach his students the right way to be in life. The story follows multiple character narratives. Sometimes I find these can detract from a story, but here it is done really well. Each voice is unique and yet quickly established, adding to the plot as a whole.
The main character is Teddy Croucher – a dodgy teacher in the extreme. Outwardly respectable, inwardly seriously twisted. As events unfold the true extent of the lengths he is willing to go to unravel, and I was enthusiastically along for the ride!
As is often the case with this genre, I’m bursting with things to comment on and yet have to rein it in to avoid any form of spoilers! However, I can say that it is one of the most captivating reads of my summer!
With darkly funny moments and a fast pace, this was one heck of an entertaining read
