Do No Harm by Jack Jordan

I won a copy of the book over on Instagram. I have read and reviewed the book entirely voluntarily, and my review forms my honest opinion.

Blurb

My child has been taken. And I’ve been given a choice….

Kill a patient on the operating table. Or never see him again.

The man lies on the table in front of me.

As a surgeon, it’s my job to save him.

As a mother, I know I must kill him.

You might think that I’m a monster.

But there really is only one choice.

I must get away with murder.

Or I will never see my son again.

I’ve saved many lives.

Would you trust me with yours?

Review

I have been somewhat neglectful of my blog over the last year. Working as a Bookseller has immersed me even more in the world of books, but it has meant that time has become increasingly short, all while finding the need to read more.

This review marks the beginning of maintaining my blog, whilst providing much shorter, but hopefully still insightful reviews. I’ve been hanging out on Instagram much more, and I’ve noticed that I don’t need 1000 words to be hooked on the thought of a particular book. So, I’m going to give it a go……..

Oh, and I’ve also given the blog a much needed makeover!

Do No Harm is the first book I’ve read from Jack Jordan, and what an introduction!

For me, it did everything I wanted it to. It was fast-paced, dramatic and kept me turning the pages late into the night.

The central question posed asks the reader what would they do. If you were a surgeon and your child was in danger, and a choice was given; your child or your patient. Who would you choose?

One of the things I loved most about this was how invested I became without really liking anyone. They really are an unlikeable, morally grey bunch – yet I felt sympathy too.

I’d also like to formally request some form of resolution to Rachel’s story…..perhaps a new stand alone thriller!?

Are there plot holes. If you look hard enough, yes. Did I care. No. I was looking for escapism and entertainment, and for that Do No Harm was just the pill I needed.

If you’re looking for an entertaining thriller to take away with you this summer, this is one I’d highly recommend.
